The Sea

A triolet

We turn our backs, it carries on
By night, by day, by moon, by sun
Since time began these waves rolled in.
We turn our backs, it carries on
Will do the same when we're long gone
The ceaseless roar sustained unbidden.
We turn our backs, it carries on
By night, by day, by moon, by sun.
